Vision Statements of Duluth SDA Church
Evangelism
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, . . ." Matthew 28:19. We accept Christ’s command to evangelize the world and are committed to begin in our local community. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" Acts 1:8.
The purpose of our evangelism is to proclaim Eternal Salvation and Christ’s soon return. Every member has a role in making disciples by proclaiming the Three Angels’ Messages of Revelation 14:6-12 and the Good News of God's Kingdom to our church and community.
Community Service
… to demonstrate the love of Jesus in service to our community; “a city set on a hill [that] cannot be hidden” Mathew 5:14. Our desire is to be a fellowship that cares for our community and leads people to become Christ’s disciples.
We will provide a place of friendship, refuge, and worship. In an effort to touch the surrounding community’s emotional, physical and spiritual needs, we will offer assistance such as counseling, education, health services, and crisis management.
Spirituality
… to be a Spirit-filled, Spirit-led church body in which every member maintains an active prayer life and consistent devotional life.
We are dedicated to the reality of the transcendent power of the Holy Spirit. We supremely believe that the Holy Spirit is Christ’s gift and that God has endowed church members with power to live a victorious life of love and service. We follow the Holy Spirit as it transforms our human nature into the likeness of Christ. The fruit of the Spirit is then manifested in each of us (Galatians 5:21). Being Spirit-filled, each is blessed with spiritual gifts and accepts the responsibility of using them to serve others.
Youth Ministries
… to provide a safe and inviting atmosphere, and be a spiritual conduit for the energy of our youth. “…Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” Luke 18:16. We will mentor and nurture our young people to be disciples by providing them opportunities to use their spiritual gifts and talents to serve in the church and lead others to the Lord.
We will accomplish this vision through music, outreach, recreation, social interaction, youth evangelism, and church leadership opportunities. We envision a regular youth church service that allows young people to conduct Sabbath worship services in order to enhance their spiritual growth.
Support of Seventh-day Adventist Schools
… to encourage all young people to be involved in Adventist education, whether on a campus or in a home-school setting. We will provide opportunities for students to accept Christ as their Savior, to allow the Holy Spirit to transform their lives, and to fulfill the commission of preaching the Gospel to all the world. At the center of this vision is the partnership of parents, educational professionals, and the broader church community, to equip students for a life of dedication to God and service to society.
We will inspire educational excellence in Adventist schools at all academic levels. This begins with our support and appreciation for the Duluth Adventist schools (Duluth Adventist Christian School and Atlanta Adventist Academy). We will involve the school community in enhancing the worship experience and spiritual development of the entire church family.
Family Ministries
… to help all individuals recognize they are a valuable part of this church family in the sight of God. We desire each family unit — single or married, child or adult — to be healthy, functional, discipling and soul winning. We will offer growth opportunities through family life education and enrichment to help strengthen our family units.
When people experience broken, dysfunctional, or abusive relationships, they will find help and resources within this church to lead them to Christ’s healing. As a result, each member will experience the power of God’s saving grace and reflect it in their community.
Organizational Effectiveness
… to operate with organizational excellence for the glory of God. Prayerfully relying on direction by the Holy Spirit, we strive to effectively communicate, coordinate, and collaborate across all ministries.
We endeavor to help each member recognize their personal responsibility to the church body, and to facilitate the discovery and development of their individual spiritual gifts in various ministries. By doing this, our campus will serve as a place of worship, Christian education, fellowship, recreation, and ministry for people of all ages. We will be a place where the name of Jesus Christ is lifted up and everyone feels welcome.
